Welcome to....

At the heart of Ontario's conservation movement

A Council of Conservers

Conservation means living lightly.  It means that we care for nature and use its resources sustainably.  Okay, that still leaves a whole lot of room for interpretation, which is where you come in.

As a member, you play an important role in Ontario's conservation movement:
  • You are a conservation leader, in your own work and/or through your organization.  You help define what it means to be a conserver.

  • You are an ambassador for conservation.  You help spread the word to your colleagues and your members.
Conservation is about resolving the tension between consumption and protection.  If we over-consume, our society and our economy will collapse.  Yet our quality of life depends on consumption.  As members of the Council, each of you is charged with helping Ontario find ways to balance consumption with the need to protect nature and to ensure a sustainable future for the generations that follow.

Our mission, at the Conservation Council of Ontario, is to help Ontario become a conserver society.  It's no small task, which is why the Council sees the development of a broad-based conservation movement as it's primary goal.

We are confident that each of you, through your own work and areas of expertise, will contribute to the greater mission of a sustainable and healthy future for Ontario.

Thank you for your support!
